FAITH Dance Project Announces Opening Season

The FAITH Dance Project kicks off their 2006 performances this April, performing at selected adult homes and senior care facilities around Long Island and New York City. Each performance will feature dancers and dances that depict the era of American jazz through poetic and syncopated movement.

This season’s repertoire consists of various modern and ballet choreography set to the music of Billy Holiday, Nina Simone, Etta James, Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra and the contemporary Michael Buble. The syrupy sound of Lady Day contrasts the intense rhythms and soul of Nina Simone. The company will be performing this season’s repertoire at an opening gala, set to take place mid summer, when the FAITH Dance Project will be celebrating the success of its founding season.

This season’s primary mission is to empower young dancers and emerging choreographers to thrill, excite and engage a dance audience on Long Island through various styles of dance, while maintaining an appreciation for both classical and contemporary technique and culture. The FAITH Dance Project will be performing in local venues within and around Long Island’s senior, educational and entertainment communities.
